It's good It's good It's good to be a faci :D

Hey, It's me again!

After conducting an intense root cause analysis on my life straight-away I thought of writing something I did for the first time in my life :) Hope you remember my blabber about faci-ing in a local conference for the first time? Yeah right? To name it it was JXLDS 2010/11 and was organized by J'pura Local Committee, AIESEC in Sri Lanka.

Let me give you the objectives, outcomes and key messages which was given to the delegation.

Objectives:

  • Give the delegation a sound knowledge about the hierarchy of AIESEC in Sri Lanka and Globally
  • Brief them about the way that all the positions connect with each other

Outcomes:

  • They should get a motivation that they too must be in that hierarchy
  • knowledge about how things happen and to whom they should talk when an issue occurs

The Key messages that has to be delivered

  • AIESEC is a global organization
  • We are a branded organisation.
  • AIESEC is a registered organization in Sri Lanka and globally

Talking about the experience and the understandings as a faci was totally new to my life. You are responsible for the learning of the delegation so you have to give it the best of you. How to do it? How to bring out the best of you? I have 3 key steps becoming so.
  1. Perfect Practise
  2. Perfect Practice
  3. Prefect Practise
Yeah, * Prefect practise makes it perfect* :) and talking about keeping the delegation awake in a very technical session just after lunch? :D Here's the trick! You have to making it more interactive. Though you don't find much to interactive in the content of the session at least ask a few question hear and there randomly to keep the suspense :P Start of the session is curial obviously. If a delegate fall asleep it spreads just as a disease and I know it by experience hahaha :D

To make it perfect try to start the session at time and finish it on time :) coz punctuality matters on a conference no matter it's International Congress or a Local Conference like JXLDS 2010/11

Have to thank my fellow faci Chathurandi De Seram for accompanying me through-out the whole session and I believe she too had a wonderful and an unforgettable time during the conference.

So I thought of sharing the ppt we used for the session and here it is and the basic explanation is understandable from the ppt itself.

Enjoy!

Root cause analysis :D

Oh man!!!!

It's been ages since I updated this blog!

I wonder what happened to *my passion* which was so over whelmed and over excited at that moment I had no intention what so ever but to start this and let other people know what I'm up to in AIESEC and here I'm waiting and looking at my own blog thinking what has gone wrong?

I'm clueless!! Damn!! Damn it!
Being busy? NO!! I don't think so! it's a pretty lame excuse for not doing what you have to do and what you like to do! (To be honest one of the lamest :( )

K then? Has my passion towards AIESEC gone down? NOPE! That's a BIG NOPE for sure. I know I'll end up in a revolutionary place in AIESEC for sure and this is just the beginning! AIESEC is the place where I learnt to dream higher and achieve your dreams. I'm dreaming BIG!

K then what actually has happened?

Aha!! Gottcha!

Misusing my important time for irrelevant things! This has been a GRAND :D issue with me coz I was not focused on what I really want and went after a lot of fancy thing! which pleases me for a while. hmmm it's time to change myself in those aspects and start growing BIG :) I have to keep my focus on What I want and What I like but NOT on other things! I must do what I have to do but NOT what I can do!

Starting with some blog posts :D coz it's something I like :)

Interesting thoughts from an unique individual

Heya guys!

What;s up? If you don't know I was having some free time the last couple of days thanks to a fever and a cough ;) and now back at my work station in the far far away kingdom with a lot of work to cover up and I'm so badly missing someone who's close to my heart! :)

Let's go for a quick mood check of mine! How do I feel? I feel excited and at the same time tired. It's the time of the year, when someone starts the new term of theirs and feels excited and yeah obviously I'm excited because of that and at the same time I'm super duper excited because of the IC CC teamster opportunity. I have almost completed my application and only few things left do be done and so as few days too. So gotta hurry up :)

Let me tell you why I was thought of applying at the first place. I got to know this amaizing person, who is really unique out of all the AIESECers met. It's the way he deals with people and life which is really unique. I got to know this person at the induction of mine and he was pretending to be a newie just like whereas he was an alumni by that timw and I got fooled in a GRAND scale. It was Rajith who did tis to me. He was sharing some of the experience about the CC experience once he had in Egypt in IPM 207. I was simply amaized by that and luckly IC 2010 came knocking on my door step of opportunities at literally the BEST moment life can offer. Rajith also shared few ideas about internships yesterday with me over the phone. What he quoted was that you can go for a internship of 2 months and just to visit the country. As he had one of the best exchange one can hope for (a TT at the ALCATEL, France) made me really influenced to apply. So here I'm completing my application here.

If you are interested you can grab the application from here (Deadline is 5th of June 2010 so hurry up :) ) and for all the people who are planning to apply to go on to the conference the delegate applications has been opened and the deadline is 15th June (find it here) and grab the 2nd delegate mailer from here too!

Hope I'll get selected to have this amaizing eXperience and if not I would say everything happens for the BEST ya?

Talk to you soon guys! Interesting things coming up :)
Happy AIESECin' !!!

AIESEC Leaders WANTED!!! campaign

Hey AIESEC!

Say what!! (It's the usual style of AIESEC in Philinhines :P)

In Twitter I was following @AIESECopps and I was used to seeing a lot of tweets on various opportunities there. It made me realize that in the recent past I haven't seen anything at all after browsing through some of the tweets. A sudden thought came in to my mind that I should do a samll search on the News section in myaiesec.net and I did. Eventually I found something which is very interesting. Look what I found from here.

To make sure that the exchange opportunities are the ones the leaders want, a large part of this campaign is connecting them with the right opportunities, making this a RAISING and MATCHING campaign. So to support this, a database is being created, where you can advertise highest-quality internships to promote the opportunities most suited for EPs with LR. To find where to promote opportunities, check out the campaign wiki from here.

This is an awesome initiatie from AIESEC International to increase th growth of X+Ls! Have to look in to more details to make the process more effective for the LC :)

JXLDS coming up :) Till then keep AIESECin' :)

Now it's official....

5....... 4.......... 3.......... 2........... 1.............
It's *the* first of June and yeah we no longer are elects but we are currents now.
Yipeeeeeee :D and finally we can just cut off the part 'e' from the signatures

I thought of wirting what I felt at that moment even I didn't speak at that time as it was because of I hadn't time but not that I hadn't anything to say and sharing it with y'all :) Despite the facet that it literally was a hangover last night (31-05-2010) with all the Mafias, Serial Killers and Prostitutes at the take over party :P

The Time has come! To us to proove that we are the BEST out there and to prove the capacity we persure and our passion carved with dedication, commitment and excellence! When we look back from 1 years time we should be remembered and should be remembered for the good we did in AIESEC and for who we were, just like ledgend of AIESEC in Colombo South :)

Let me finish off with saying few words.. There are Some people I have to thank who helped me in all the possible ways. Niradh Perera the x LCP of Colombo south, I still remember the day you spoke to me about AIESEC and I'm always thankful for you for doing that :) and I still remember the way you stood by us when we were in the NLDS 2009 OC and it meant a lot. And the x LCVP TM Amila Weerarathna who simply is the best out there when it comes to TM in AIESEC in Sri Lanka for opening up my mind and change the way I look at things in AIESEC and believe me it helped me a lot. Janahan Thiruvalluvar, xLCVP IS & Comm (gotta thank him for the free rides he offered me :P )and Dinesh Thilina Fonseka, x lCVP ICX who did an awesome job in his field and I remember the way you helped us out in the NLDS 2009. Venuje Weerasekara x LCVP ER & F, Thank you for your care and finally Inas Jenabdden x LCVP OGX and LCP current for all the good times LOL :D

Wish the new EB and the EBs of other LCs and Extensions (JLC, CN and CX) a rocking and a kick-a$$ term and so goes for the MC and for All the members in AIESEC in Sri Lanka as well ;)

Good Luck!
Keep AIESECin' :)

A Letter from an OCVP to an OCVP :-)

Something universal and something we all the AIESECers believe in is *Sharing is caring* :)

Once I was an OCVP Delegate Servicing of a National Conference (NLDS 2009) and I learnt a lot I mean a LOT out of the conference for the personal and professional life and I thought of sharing some of them (not the problems itself but the methods of overcoming them) with another OCVP as it'll help her to do better and way better than I did back there.

Hope she'll continue to do it when there is another conference to be held.

This is what I wrote to her and guys there is a small difference from this one and the original one I sent specially the way I introduced myself and believe me you guys really don't want to see that :P
___________________________________________________________

Hey,

I was the OCVP Delegate Servicing at tha NLDS 2009 (National Leadership Development Seminar) which was the only conference for this term :) Lucky me eh? :D

From the things I leart I have few things to tell you which will be somewhat helpful for you to make your life a bit easier without much complains from the delegates.

  • In whatever you do and how crappy the situation is SMILE to the delegates! Obvious right?
  • Talk to the OCVP logistics and go to the venue at least once before the conference and find out the places/times where you'll be doing check ins and delegate registrations. (makes it easy to handle traffic :P and you can prepare their name tags LC wise and in alphabetical order to find them easily. Keep the OCVP Finance with you to collect delegate fees when the registration is going on and keep OCVP logistics ready for escorting delegates for their rooms)
  • Keep a room leader to hold the room key and hold him responsible (Take the mobile number of him/her at the registration)
  • If there are any bonds from the institute/hotel about what's inside the rooms you can ask the room leader to fill it out and give it to you later (This is logistics stuff but synergy makes things easy :) )
  • Keep a box to put the key at the reception of near the conference hall or delegates will come to you to find them the room key without knowing who has it where is the room leader is (yeah this happens in like every single break :P)
  • Keep the delegate packs prepaired and allocate rooms in a way that delegates will have a good diversity.
  • Keep an continiously updating simple database about the delegates, Specially about allergies and dietary conditions if the food isn't a buffet :P
  • Talk to the facis all the time and help them out in anything they need.
  • Go for the ultimate goal (the end of the conference) as a TEAM! This was the most important one for me out of all the things I learnt

and to ensure some learning for yourself as well do participate in some sessions as well only if possible ! :)

It's not easy to do all those things along believe me so keep someone from the OC with you always for the help :)

Good luck OC!

As we say sharing is caring I wanted to share the story with y'all as well.

I'll be back soon! Till then keep AIESECin' :)

Await......

Hey AIESEC!!

What's up guys? It's may 31!! and tomorrow by this time the new term will be officially begun and we all will be dancing around in the take over party :D

I have been doing some *important stuff* during the last couple of weeks and it kept me off my blogs for a while and now I'm back on the game! The spirit is sky high!! yeah!

I have been a bit busy with the LC Planning and Functional Planning for the LC.
Had to develop the Team satructure JDs for the team members Event calander and the time line for the functional area for the term 2010/11.

Have to run people! I'll get back to y'all within this week something exciting rather than the conventional *what I'm up to?* bullshit :P

till then happy AIESECin' hahaha

Everything has a first time right?

In this short period of time where I have been in AIESEC my to do list has evolved with the time. When I know it's time to take up various positions and all the challenges, I have done them with passion and now it's time to take up one of the ultimate personal goals in my AIESEC carrier and that would be facilitating :) Yes it's time!! Step up.....!! Start with a local conference and go for international conferences to facilitate and continue facilitation as much as I can! Not bad as a thought and goal for an ambitious AIESECer eh? :p

I have been selected as a facilitator in one of the local conference hosted by JLC and the name of the conference is JXLDS 2010-11. I have to thank all the OC members for putting their time on organising such an event and hope things will go smoothly as well :)

Tonight would be the first faci meeting in my life and I'm looking forward to it!! Wish me luck and I'll get used to looooong faci meetings and discussions in the future hahaha :D

Interesting things are coming up! Stay tuned :D and I'm entangled with the LC OGX planning here as well. Let's make it happen :)

Who am I?

Who am I?

Yeah it's a pretty interesting and sometimes a too straight forward question but at the same time if you really really think deep down I bet, most of you will not understand who you are, Don't you? Oh now you wana bet with huh?

It's called self-reflection hahaha now can you guess who am I?

I'm an AIESECer!

Welcome you all to my blog, a long awited blog of mine and hope to share my experiences with all the interested people here. It's not much but it sure is quite a story of which one would learn something out of it.

Enjoy!
